Rachel Muir

Intern Therapist
Honours B.A. MACP (Candidate)

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you have been holding so much on your own. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard. My hope is to create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where children, youth, adults, and families can feel comfortable showing up as they are.

I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from York University, along with an Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care. I also bring over eight years of experience working within foster care and family systems, supporting children, youth, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families through a variety of life challenges.

My work as a Family Support Worker in a private foster home agency has deepened my understanding of the emotional, relational, and family experiences that can shape a person’s well-being. Over the past 8 years, I have supported individuals navigating trauma, stress, life transitions, family difficulties, and emotional overwhelm. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed, and relationship-based care.

My counselling approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each client’s unique story. I draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and psychoeducation to tailor the work to each person’s needs. I believe therapy is a process of building trust, increasing self-awareness, and supporting clients as they move toward healing, growth, and greater confidence.

I am especially interested in supporting children, youth, adults, and families experiencing stress, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, life transitions, and family-related challenges. If you are looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, care, and authenticity, I would be honoured to support you on your journey.
