Intern Therapist.
RN, BN, MACP (Candidate)
Ann is an intern counselling psychologist with a Registered Nursing background and over 20 years of experience working in emergency, trauma, and neonatal intensive care settings. Her years on the frontline of healthcare have shaped a deep understanding of how trauma, medical stress, occupational and professional stress and life-altering events affect adults and families emotionally, physically, and relationally.
Ann supports individuals navigating trauma, health-related anxiety, workplace stress and burnout, caregiver burnout, grief, disability, and complex medical or life transitions, as well as families adjusting to sudden or ongoing health challenges. Ann has a particular interest in working with children aged 7+ and recognizes that children are deeply influenced by their caregivers and broader environments. Ann values collaboration with parents while keeping the child’s voice and lived experience central to the work.
Ann brings a grounded, steady, and compassionate presence into the therapeutic space. Her approach is humanistic and client-centred, informed by a multi-modal, evidence-based lens, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety, stabilization, and trust. She supports adults and children in developing a deeper understanding of the connection between emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, and how these patterns shape wellbeing, relationships, and daily functioning. Ann is particularly attentive to nervous system responses and the emotional and biological impact of prolonged stress, caregiving, and high-pressure professional environments.
Ann is the mother of two teenage children and identifies as neurodivergent, bringing a lived understanding of difference, adaptability, and self-compassion into her work. She feels it is a deep privilege to be in the helping profession and is guided by values of honesty, integrity, compassion, and social justice. Outside of her professional roles, Ann enjoys spending time with her family exploring Canada’s national parks through camping, hiking, and kayaking, as well as playing board games, cooking together, debating the news, and volunteering within her local community.
